The Rose

table rose2

The hazy early sun reflects
On misty Autumn dew,
As petals open, drops collect
On the rose I cut for you.

One dewdrop, sparkling in the light
With a myriad rainbow shining through,
Worth more than all the diamonds bright
On the rose I bring to you.

The rose unfurled, the dewdrops danced,
On deep red petals born anew,
Released the sweetly perfumed scent
From the rose I gave to you.

Carried to your room with care
With a love that`s deep and true,
Awakened in the morning air
To the rose I laid by you.

It laid beside you on the bed,
And from your eyes I knew,
My teardrops mixed with dewdrops said,
This rose will die with you.
