The Ring of Steel
Wedding vows are simply said
Easily given signed as read,
But feelings are not contract bound
And love is just a word I`ve found.
Without charity and compromise
Those vows will fail, before your eyes,
Pulled apart like papery leaves
Drifting in the Autumn breeze.
The symbol being a band of gold
That`s plighted troth since days of old,
When links where forged to form a chain
When bound could not be broke again.
Two halves of steel to forge a ring
Hammered `till the anvil sings,
Through hopes and fears a strength will come
Two welded halves, that act as one.
So forge a bond where others baulk,
Hammered hot without a fault,
For only time will then reveal
The love within the ring of steel.
